Rachel grew up in Toronto with a Canadian mother and a Norwegian father. She was a dancer for The Royal Academy of Dancing but due to an injured ankle she had to give it up and moved on to ice-hockey. She played at the highest level of competitive female hockey as a goalie for the Leaside Wildcats in Toronto. She got into the show business because she was seen singing on her father's memorial where an agent spotted her and asked her to make an audition for cereals. One of her first roles on screen was in Virginia's Run (2002). She is most known for her role as Dinah Lance
on the television series Birds of Prey and Tamsin in Lost Girl.
