Magnus is a minor character in the third and fourth season of Reign. He is portrayed by Kyle Gatehouse.

He is a Danish Prince, and brother of the new King, Eric XIV of Sweden. He sought to marry both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Prince Magnus and Queen Elizabeth have been writing letter back and forth for months, and Prince Magnus has decided to make the trip to England to work out a marriage arrangement.

Prince Magnus arrived in England to meet Queen Elizabeth after having written her for months. He arrived with his close friend who was also looking for a wife, Lord Hans. Hans introduced them to Her Majesty, and her Lady-in-waiting, Lady Lola. Elizabeth took them on a tour of the castle and introduced them to The Whisper Gallery that her father, the late King Henry VIII had created to seduce women.

Later, Elizabeth brought them out to one of the yards for a snow-tag fight. With each country pitted agents the other. Prince Magnus won after hitting Elizabeth in the face twice.

That night at dinner, Elizabeth and himself were talking about the oxen she was wanting to buy off them for England. When he reached to high in asking for a public declaration of thanks, Queen Elizabeth stormed off, and Lady Lola followed her. Magnus soon followed, but became angry after hearing a declaration of war. After Lola admitted to being the one to say it, Magnus banned her from Denmark, before he and Hans left. Skipping their tour on London, England for the next day and went straight back to Denmark.

Personality[]

Magnus is described by Mary as a "pompous bore".

In History[]

  • In 1397, Denmark entered into a personal union with Norway and Sweden, united under Queen Margaret I. The three countries were to be treated as equals in the union until the 1530s.
  • Denmark and Norway were considered one colony, until 1814. Much Like how Briton owned North America.
  • Magnus would later become King of Livonia.
