Jean-Philippe's Christening is an event that was held in Season Two in the episode The Lamb and the Slaughter.
It was the event of christening Francis II and Lola's son, as well as Francis claiming him publicly as his son.
During the Event[]
Catherine is planning a huge celebration for her newborn grandson, while reminiscing about the christenings of her own children. Francis doesn't think that it needs be so extravagant; however his mother says that since Francis has decided to publicly claim him, and also if he wants his son to be honored as he grows up, then this is the way to do it. There is some debate as to who the godmother should be, as this person would raise the baby if Francis or Lola could not, and Catherine was denied for this honored position for reasons Lola didn't give. Later Lola is seen asking Mary to be her son's godmother and she happily accepts. There is a pre christening party where there isn't much dancing, and later there is a service in the chapel where the baby is christened Jean-Philippe Valois - Angouleme, 1st Baron of Vallie.
Trivia[]
- Greer Castleroy was notably absent from the ceremony.
- She was actually on her way to Castleroy's Château to profess her love to Aloysius.
