Greer releasing Castleroy from their marriage In With Friends Like These, Greer arrives in Edinburgh, Scotland, in time for Lola's funeral. She left her daughter and her husband behind in France. At the funeral, Mary states her eulogy. Greer notices that Mary feels dizzy and she offers to escort her to the carriage. Mary refuses her help, asking her to stay behind with Lola's parents. Greer later alerts James that Mary has been kidnapped. In A Grain of Deception, Greer is asked by Mary to stay at Scottish court, and she happily agrees. At St. Brigid's Party, Greer and Mary gossip with the ladies to find out which one of them leaked the information about supplying arms and food to Canonbe. The ladies start to talk behind Mrs. Knox's back, tainting her name by spreading awful rumours. Greer defends Mrs. Knox. After the party, Greer is confronted by Mary when she sees Greer packing. Greer confides in Mary, telling her that she saw how harshly Mrs. Knox was judged, and Greer doesn't want her baby to be subject of harmful gossip when they realise that Castleroy isn't really her father based on her dark complexion. Mary swears to protect Greer and her family, which convinces Greer to stay at court. The next day, Greer is informed by Mary that the long-awaited grain was delivered to the village of Canonbe. Together, they put the puzzle pieces together and figure out who was behind the leaking of the information. In Leaps of Faith, Greer asks James why he's pursuing Emily Knox. As they're talking, the topic of Castleroy comes up. Greer confesses that her relationship with Castleroy has been less than ideal; he's cold, distant, and they no longer share any kind of intimacy. Later, Greer helps James hand out bread to the villagers. The two also help the villagers put out the fire. The next day, Mary and Greer are yet again engaged in a coversation, in which Mary is doubting Darnley's intentions, and Greer is encouraging her to give Darnley the benefit of doubt. The next day, he pleads with Greer to let Martin see his daughter, and after giving it some thought, she decides to allow him to do so. Near the end of the episode, Greer confesses to James that she wishes that at the right time, she'd met someone like him. In A Better Man, Greer admits to Mary that James is ignoring her. Mary assures her by saying that things are not always how they seem. Greer takes this advice to heart and confronts James, asking him how come he's avoiding her. He doesn't respond, and simply lets his kisses speak for themselves. He asks her to be patient with him and walks away. Later, when James is sent away by Mary, Greer is cold with Mary for having sacrificed yet another person for her cause. In Dead of Night, Greer apologises to Mary for being harsh to her about James.
