Father Michael was employed by Catherine de' Medici and Mary Stuart to kill Henry II. Their plot failed, but he was later captured by Lord Stéphane Narcisse. He was guarded by Balfont, who tortured him into admitting Catherine and Mary's plan. This was all to blackmail King Francis, who did manage to kill his father.
When Sebastian and Francis freed him, he helped them find Lord Montgomery, Narcisse's other hostage who posed a threat to Francis.
