Early History[]
Back when Mary Tudor was in power and Elizabeth was locked in the tower, Mary sent Gideon to inform on her and be her "eyes and ears", and part of that task was to seduce Elizabeth. However, he couldn't, as Elizabeth was in love with Robert Dudley. When Gideon reported that to his queen, Mary "ripped" Robert from his cell, and Elizabeth was left heart-broken. Presumably, for Gideon's treason, Elizabeth had him jailed when she ascended the throne.

Season Three[]
In Fight or Flight, Elizabeth tasks Gideon with seducing Mary Stuart in order to thwart her alliance with Spain. In exchange, Elizabeth pledges to reunite him with his daughter, Agatha.
