Duke Boinel is a minor character in the third season of Reign. He is portrayed by Clive Walton.
Duke Boinel is a French noble who married Princess Claude at the request of Stéphane Narcisse and King Charles. When he beat Claude on their wedding night, Charles regretted his decision and granted his sister an annulment. Unbeknownst to him, Duke Boinel was paid by Catherine de' Medici, Claude and Charles' mother, to beat and abuse Claude so Charles would annul the marriage and lose faith in Narcisse.
Biography[]
Duke Boinel was an old friend of Stéphane Narcisse. Their wives (Stéphane's third) were friends as well and both died of Plague around the same time.
Later, his money was needed by the crown, so he was given Princess Claude's hand in marriage. He beat and abused her on their wedding night, after which she beat, abused and left him. Claude was granted an annulment. Secretly, Boinel had been paid by Catherine de Medici to beat Claude and thus cause an annulment.
Trivia[]
- As he was friends with Lord Narcisse's third wife, Boinel might have known Luc Narcisse, their son, from childhood. Luc Narcisse would eventually marry Claude, Boinel's ex-wife.
