Cardinal Adomo is a minor character in the fourth season of Reign. He is portrayed by Paulino Nunes.
Cardinal Adomo is an important figure from the The Vatican. He tries to get Lord Darnley on the throne and overthrow his wife, Mary Stuart. Their meeting fails however because Mary finds out through her friend, David Rizzio, who beds Adomo's secretary, Father Julian.

Season Four[]
The Vatican is keen for a union between Queen Mary and Lord Darnley, so they send their most powerful emissary, Cardinal Adomo, to attend their wedding. Mary's lady-in-waiting, Greer, is tasked with welcoming the guests and as such, she gives a warm greeting to the Cardinal and assures him that he will have the finest accomodation.
Unbeknowst to the Queen, the Cardinal surreptitiously meets with Lord Darnley and offers to give him control of the Vatican purse strings in Scotland. The plan is that over time, Darnley's power and popularity would grow enough to rival Mary's, and she would have no choice but to bow to him. Darnley seems as though he is about to accept, when Mary and her entourage of guards burst into the meeting.
Outraged by the outburst, the Cardinal threatens Mary with losing the Vatican's support. However, Mary calls him out on the fact that such clandestine meetings aren't a show of support. She proceeds to remind him that she is Scotland's one true ruler. In response, the Cardinal sharply warns that there will be repercussions.
The Cardinal keeps his word. As soon as Mary arrives back at court, she receives a letter stating that the Vatican will not be helping sway the border towns, which she needs in order to take England. Mary begins to despair, but Catherine reminds her that there are other ways to win the townspeople over and asks Mary to leave it to her.

Cardinal Adomo is an uptight, pompous man who doesn't believe women should yield any power.

Cardinal Adomo is a man who appears to be in his early fifties. He has an olive skintone, dark eyes and a stern expression. His fine clothing speaks to his position as the most powerful Vatican emissary.
